If by Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

A voice that makes you dream.

Music is one a part of my life which plays a big part.

This is why when I hear artists like Tania Kikidi I find myself lost in the voice. I first saw her live and me and my friends were blown away by her voice. For me it is one of the best voices I have heard in the past decades. Beautiful girl with angelic voice and very nice presentation.

If I died tomorrow....

So I had this thought: what if I died tomorrow?

Most people think who would go to their funerals and if they'll be remembered but not me!

I thought- have I done everything I want?
Have I had fun?
Do I keep doing new things etc?
The answer is yes to all to my relief - no regrets thank God because you don't know when it is going to be your last day!

But most importantly I asked myself: have I blurred out everything to everyone?
People usually either don't say things to be liked. or not hurt people or do say things just to hurt people without meaning them.

Since I lost a friend last May never getting a chance to say I love you before she died I made a promise to myself: Never keep things bottled up - be honest. Of course there is a way to say things!
You don't want to go around saying to people: ha ha look at you today aren't you a mess or God I have had better in private moments! I don't think it will be appreciated and in the end you will be disliked!

I must say since last May I had  gone from being this really polite person to someone who just couldn't keep silent! It became quite irritating to others I think haha.
Still I don't regret it - it is nice not keeping stuff and actually not care :)

I would tell people who I only met twice they are wasted for example even though they were - they wouldn't take it well. It is so strange how people would get offended by hearing the truth instead of getting offended by their behaviour!

Nutters!

Smile....It makes others wonder

Hello!
I have been thinking about smiling for the past couple of days since my last post and how much it benefits us but also how people become curious of why you are smiling. I thought isn't it strange to wonder why someone is doing something that should be more common rather than strange?

We often find ourselves wondering why do people smile without reason.
Others do to. I  have often thought why is s/he smiling?

This is though what makes other wonder! Times are so hard smiling has become rare - or at least honest truthful smile and not the fake we give to others.

So if you want people to wonder just smile!
It has been found actually  that the more you smile, the happier you are even when faking it you eventually
become happier!
This is the reason people feel happier around children - cause they smile something like 400 times a day!

Of course there have been studies this is not my opinion. If you are interested there is a nice talk on TED you can watch:
http://www.ted.com/talks/ron_gutman_the_hidden_power_of_smiling.html

There's lots of interesting speeches on TED and you may find other interesting stuff too!

I can remember at times being with someone and seeing them smiling for no obvious reason and festering as to why are they smiling? Are they making fun of me are they thinking something naughty? What?

I actually realised how much fun it was when I started doing it. It may  be considered  in my view as the easiest and non provocative way to attract attention without it being seen as you are doing it on purpose!
Besides this wondering you put miserable people through, who think the world is crap and everyone in it who are never happy and always blame someone else for their misery blah blah blah, smiling is also good for you it makes you feel better and helps you get through the day.

So smile!!!!!
May you have a lovely day full of beautiful thoughts! :)

A different kind of break up guide

People usually after a long term relationship break up would tell you that you should grieve it and it is a process and that you have to do this in order to feel better and that you should go through this if you want to get over it.

WRONG!

Really? You would want to spend even 1 more second on something that just ended?
You either broke it off cause it wasn't going anywhere or you were dumped. In either case why would you want to spend any longer feeling like crap for the person who did not appreciate you and did not care about and dumped you or spend time thinking of that couch potato which was a hunk when you met but did not care enough to look good for you so they just started trying to make an ass print on the couch. And this goes both ways for men and women. So I think this is what you should do after  break up:

1) let go of that anger:
whether it is for being dumped or spending time with someone not worth it.
you can throw darts at their picture and you can actually hang earrings from them after and call it art in case the ex comes by to pick up some clothes. Of course singing songs like Alanis Morissett's you out to know
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPcyTyilmYY) certainly reinforce the getting over the ex process. I'm sure you can find many like this on you tube.

2) Mentally block the ex:
try to block out all the good times or the bad times which ever works for you. Some people feel good to think of the good times and not feel it was all a total loss but others prefer to think of the bad times in order to believe what an ass hole their ex was. This includes jealousy scenes, being cut off from your friends etc. After you have though of that try to block them out as they never did exist by remembering or trying to remember what it was like before them-usually you ll discover there is a life without them and remember a time that you were actually having fun. Don't fall into the trap of thinking what it was like when you first met. As soon as you find yourself doing that just think of sheep or anything that is irrelevant.

3) Don't block him from your social network accounts:
Why? Cause this is your chance to show there is life after your break up - of course it would be better
if you would get of your butt and do fun stuff rather than fake posting on facebook you are having fun but still it should help to make you feel better.

4) Shopping therapy:
Not any kind of shopping though - start of with underwear for you guys and lingerie for you ladies.
You might not need it straight away but you have to be prepared! Think of it as sending of vibes!

5) Do everything you missed out on:
Usually people give up on the stuff they most like doing whether it is watching football with friends drinking beers for the guys of having free time to gossip go out with friends and shopping for women. This is your chance to do all this stuff you have given up so long!

6) Create:
There is nothing better than a creative hobby to keep you occupied. I find myself feeling a lot better when I do something creative. It works as psychotherapy!

7) Have fun:
If you are one of those people who feel guilty flirting (and I mean just flirting) with the opposite sex when are in a relationship this is your chance to flirt again - it can only make you feel better and it doesn't necessarily mean having to give out your tel number if you are not ready to start seeing people again. Make sure you don't start feeling insecure though - that is a trap!

8) Look after yourself:
You should always look after yourself whether in or not in a relationship for different reasons. I recently read a nice ecard that said always dress like you ll see your worst nightmare. It is almost a certainty that the one time you will look like shit you ll bump into your ex. their friends or family - this is not a good confidence boost for you and it will make you feel even more crap than you did before.

9) Try smiling:
There is nothing better for you to feel good and nothing worse for your enemies than for you to smile.
Now I realise this is hard to do if you have spent the past month depressed and in tears so please try not to do the crazy smile and look like this:
This will make you look loony and unattractive and it isn't something you want.

So... I hope this was helpful......

Favourite stuff online

Good morning!!!

I have though to post my favourite sites, facebook groups etc as you might find something interesting.
So here goes:

Neurolove:
http://www.facebook.com/neurolove.me
http://neurolove.me/ (blog)
http://www.youtube.com/feed/UCiVpgvifDAi5If-DOXZuEgQ

This is especially appealing I think to those who are into psychology and quotes.
Neurolove has lovelly quotes and psychology facts I have really enjoyed the daily quotes, it gets updated daily. The you tube channel is quite new so it doesn't yet have that many videos but if it turns out to be as good as the facebook page it will be quite interesting. It isn't something that professionals could benefit from in terms of information but it is still enjoyable!
Here's an example of the ecards they post on their facebook page:

Sarcastic charm
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sarcastic-Charm/424755410910002
One of the few funny pages/ groups online which I follow. Even when the content may be seen as slightly offensive you really can't help laughing!
Funny thoughts. quotes and ecards. Here is an example:

Inked magazine
http://www.facebook.com/inkedmag
www.inkedmag.com
http://www.youtube.com/user/InkedMagTV

One of my favourite sites, groups and youtube channels as I am an ink freak, love tattoos so for all you inked or not but who love art and tattoos this is I think one of the best sites online for you to look at designs! Plus it has some cool stuff to buy like t shirts!

Decoholic
http://www.facebook.com/Decooholic
www.decoholic.org

This is for the ones who love decorating and are into interior design. Beautiful ideas and pictures.
It is really helpful if you are redecorating  or moving into a new house even though not all the photos are of things you can easily do at home but even so you still enjoy the ideas!

Baddest bitches
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Baddest-Bitches/360526950652948
http://baddestbitchesallday.blogspot.gr/
This again I love for the same reason as sarcastic charm - it makes me laugh it is so bad at times that it is hillarious! You really should have a sense of humour or not be offended easily to enjoy it!
This is a recent picture they put up recently that made me really laugh!

Pinterest:
http://pinterest.com/

Social network and for me the single most helpful site to search and find a solution to anything you want!
From clothes, hairstyles and nail art to how to up-cycle old furniture. I follow it everyday and spent hours on end on it. Caution: it is addictive. It needs a couple of days to become familiar with it as it may seem a little confusing at first because all of its stuff is in pictures. But it does have categories and search bar plus you can save the 'pins' you like into your profile to go back later and also others users you might find have interesting pins you can follow all or just some of their boards (you created different boards for different things pinning relevant stuff in each). Hope you enjoy! I certainly have.

Metal travel guide
http://www.facebook.com/metaltravelguide
http://www.metaltravelguide.com/

I was really excited when I came across the site as I was doing a little research on bars and clubs that play rock and metal in Ireland as I am thinking of visiting later on in the year. So I came across this and found it really helpful it lists bars clubs, tattoo places, clothes shops etc by country and city and creating a profile allows you to add a place and give a review. Haven't had the chance to look at it extensively but it certainly helpful especially when planning to go on holiday somewhere you have not before and looking for places to go out. A fab guide, check it out!

Shit my husband says
http://www.facebook.com/ShitHusbandSays

As you can tell by the tittle a humorous facebook group like sarcastoc charm and baddest bitches always  makes me laugh has great pictures e cards etc.

Adbusters
http://www.facebook.com/adbusters

If you are passionate about advertising immorality then you ll enjoy this. I came across this group which creates a magazine and are trying to give the message of how companies use unethical ways to promote through advertising. It is not just pictures but also interesting facts about companies.
This is an example of the stuff they post.

Unethical businesses

Why?
Because of what is has done through its practices. Like the baby milk formula given to 3rd world countries and is the cause of infants diseases.
This article  gives some info:  http://www.businessinsider.com/nestles-infant-formula-scandal-2012-6?op=1:

If this picture shocks you then you must know that this girl volunteered to go through everything
animals go through when are being tested on in a busy mall in London. This included being tied up, injected for 10 hours as her way to protest against animal testing. The 24 year old has set a really good example of how there are still people in this world who still care!
Please read the whole article in the original source.

Do you still think you are worth it?
Think before you buy no one should suffer for your lipstick - after all is lipstick that important for you that creatures-any living creatures should suffer in this way? Don't turn a blind eye. Hitler used to perform experiments on people - how is this type of experimentation different?

London Calling

London is one my favourite places. I can't say that I have travelled around the worlds that much
but having lived in England I have visited London a few times to visit friends, family and of course to do the cool stuff I wanted!
There are tons to do in London and I find that every time I visit there is always something new to do or something that  haven't had the time to do when I visited last time.

I have found London to be equally beautiful in the winter with the snow but also in the spring-summer time. For a city with so many residents it is clean but most of all it has a really good underground system.

These are a few of the cool things you can do in London and places that I love.

Piccadilly Circus
Deffinitely the place I always visit when in London a not only it is on a central location of London but also it is easy to walk to near by places like oxford street where all the shops and some cool little coffee places hidden but also it is a nice walk on the opposite side from Piccadilly to convent garden were you will find many little book shops on the way and enjoy a nice walk of only 10 minutes to get to Convent garden.

Another favourite is Camden town.I always love to walk from the underground all the way down window shopping and discovering great stuff and get to the market where you can find so much stuff, eat food from different parts of the world, Definitely a fun thing to do. I think that In Camden town you could find anything you d want plus discover stuff you would definitely want to buy so be sure to have some cash on you!

London Camden Town
(http://br.photaki.com/picture-london-camden-town_307518.htm)

The nest place is dreamy but can't say it is on my top list but still very beautiful. It is Notting hill!
It is such a nice place to walk with the beautiful houses and little shops and coffee shops it almost feels as if you are in a different world!

These places I think are a must for tourists each having stuff to do around there and things to see. For example in Notting Hill there's a nice museum-the brand and advertising museum that is lots of fun as it has old advertising and packaging from th 1920's till today, toys and magazines but also it is very interesting to see how products we use today have throughout time seen changes in their packaging - it is really fun to visit!

For me a must when going to London is to see a play. There are some really nice productions like the phantom of the opera which I have to say game chills when I went to see it a couple of years back. The Victoria and Albert museum is also good to visit and going by the underground you don't even have to go outside to get to it as there is an underground which takes you directly to the entrance! Apart from the standard exhibitions there are various ones which are not permanent and are usually very interesting to see,.

Of course there is allot of museums in London like the Natural history museum and the British museum which admittedly has nothing British in it and that is probably why it has a free entry! But you get to see so much stuff by visiting it as its like visiting a museum in Greece, Egypt etc.

The London bridge I have to say for me is very beautiful to walk down in the summer especially in the evening and there are nice little places you can sit and get something to eat and drink and gaze through the window to the river.

Also something I really enjoyed was the Jack the Ripper tour! It is a tour where you visit all the locations in Whitechapell were the murders took place and the guide tells you all this info about the killer and the evidence available. I went in the winter and it was foggy and it really put me in the mood!

These are just a few of the things I would recommend when visiting London I will be updating with time hope this is helpful!

Smurf obsession

Most people who will read this will probably think I may a little coockoo. If you are one of them
then just leave - you will not enjoy this blog. This is for people with a little humour.
So this isn't exactly thought of the day but it is a thought that has for many years become an obsession
to figure out what is the deal with the smurfs and the writer/s behind them.

So think of their village as a small society-well let me tell you there is some freaky shit going on in that village and even though this was one of my favourite shows when I was little along with pink panther and thundercats as I grew older I started having a lot of gaps as to what was happening in there.

So we have a village that is so private - no visitors no one coming in or out what the hell? Who are they Freemasons?
Secondly they have one female and blonde! Way to go on stereotyping. Not to mention the baby that suddenly came.
And as we are on the subject of stereotyping the cat! It is a cat of course it will chase after little things running around-doesn't yours?

Not to mention Gargamel's obsession with destroying something he does not understand? And we all know which people do not accept what they do not understand? I wont say any names but lets just say they do not accept differentiation.

Just a few thoughts, I actually came across a very interesting article by Curtis Silver which is relevant you might enjoy:

My top music films

I'm not a big fan on musicals I must say with only a few exceptions. On the other hand musicals which are not mostly music conversation I like.
This is a list without any specific order of favourite music films and musicals with limited music conversation.

Rock of ages

A recent film, one that mostly rockers would enjoy and older generations as it is based on the 80's Rock scene. Full of old and much loved songs like Pour some sugar on me and Paradise city, it takes you back to an era bringing back memories but also gives an idea to the younger generation what the scene was like back in the 80's. Many of my friends have admitted not wanting to see it as they are not keen on seeing Tom Cruise as a Rock star but I must say he is convincing in his role and this film will not only make you feel nostalgic but will also make you laugh.

Rock Star (2001) PosterRock star

Not a very recent film but for me a must see especially for rock
and roll fans, a story about a young singer which is discovered and
given a chance to be the front man of his all time favourite bands
only to discover that things are not as they look from the outside.
This film is a perfect example of how rock band members in the 80's
became rock stars in the 80's and all that excess that followed fame
being extreme and living an extravagant life. I have heard that the film is actually based on a famous metal band of the 80's which still exists.

Σχεδόν Διάσημοι (2000) PosterAlmost famous

This film is again said to be based on existing figures in the rock scene.
The film is based back in the 70's showing again the music scene of the
time, it has very nice music on the background with led zepelin songs
amongst others. The film shows a young man still at school who is given
the opportunity to follow a rock group on tour and write an article
for Rolling Stones magazine. Through the journey somewhere between
the groupies, the bands fights and the drugs the young man tries to get
his work done experiencing what it is like to be on the road with band.

Burlesque (2010) PosterBurlesque

A different film than the above which might be argued that it is
more feminine, since it shows burlesque dancers giving a show,
showing the fabulous costumes so yes maybe a little more of
feminine but definitely interesting and even though its a little long
you do not realise how fast time goes as it draws you in.
Grease (1978) Poster It will definitely cheer you up! Definitely suitable for those who are into
burlesque and pin up style clothes!

Grease

I find it hard to  believe that there are people who haven't seen
this film at least once. I consider this to be a classic musical, funny film
with a soundtrack that has become so popular. Even though it was an 1978
production it is a film that teenagers would enjoy watching!
The Phantom of the Opera (2004) Poster

The phantom of the opera

Even though I'm not a big fan of musicals which are full of musical
conversation, this I must say is my one exception. The soundtrack,
the effects and the story make this a classic for me. I became so
much in love with this film I went to see it in the theatre in London.
A must see!  I think you don't need to be a theatre or music fan to
enjoy this.

To F.....by Edgar Allan Poe

  Beloved! amid the earnest woes
That crowd around my earthly path-
       (Drear path, alas! where grows
       Not even one lonely rose)-
My soul at least a solace hath
In dreams of thee, and therein knows
       An Eden of bland repose.

And thus thy memory is to me
         Like some enchanted far-off isle
       In some tumultuous sea-
Some ocean throbbing far and free
         With storms- but where meanwhile
       Serenest skies continually
Just o'er that one bright island smile.

Download festival 2013

Download festival once again this June will be the event to attend.
I must say this year's line up is just incredible. Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Ramstein amongst others will offer a 3 day festival that will definitely be a memory to look back at.
An experience which is rare in the rock music scene nowadays. With a huge space and caravan and camping site it just offers everything one may need to enjoy the festival.

Definitely worth counting the days for till June the 14th when the festival starts.
I will personally be visiting and can't wait. I will be giving a review on the festival plus pictures.

Boo!

I must say psychological thrillers are my favourite type of films.
Maybe I should be worried that this means something about my mental state but I'm not going to be too worried about it. If no one else has noticed I'm ok for the time being.

So these are a few psychological thrillers I have seen which I like:

Shutter island

Must say I was never a big fan of Di Caprio but after this film and 'Inception' which both came out in the same year I was quite impressed by the acting. Shutter island does keep you interested to the end and it does offer that twist in the end.

The Game

I remember being at the edge of my seat not being able to work out what was going on. I find this film to have terrific performances, clever plot and
have to say this is a film that will definitely keep your eyes fixated on the screen.

Silence of the lambs

I find it hard to believe that anyone will disagree that this film is not a great film. Such a classic for me that I actually recently bought it on bluray. Seeing Anthony Hopkins as the psycho but genius Dr Hannibal you are so convinced by his acting that is scary. Of course it must be said that J. Foster also gave an outstanding performance as the FBI trainee. Definitely a must see and the best one out of all the sequels and prequel that followed it.

The butterfly effect

I sat two weeks staring at...well, nothing specific to be honest, wondering if I
had done this, this wouldn't have happened or would have and if I hadn't done
that, that wouldn't have happened or would have and so on. This film really
makes you think how your actions have consequences, how they may be
responsible for a series of things occurring but for me also how one can never
be in total control or make things perfect. Unfortunately the sequels were
disappointing.

Julia's eyes

Although this film cannot be compared with the above films it does have
an interesting story. It does get a little slow somewhere in the middle
but the end offers a very interesting twist. Not the greatest psychological thriller
I have ever seen but not bad for a night in with friends.

Nothing to envy

I must say I came across this book by chance while shopping at Amazon. The book so well written that even though it is written in 3rd person it feels as if those being interviewed are the ones telling the story.

The author, has such a quality in getting across all the experiences that North Koreans have experienced and reading the book you feel as if you are there. Even though the author gathered all the information via interviews it feels as if you are reading a story or novel easily getting a mental  picture in your head.

I must say I am not one of those who can read for hours on end but this book was so interesting that I could not put down. Besides the good writing, I found it very informative learning things I did not have a clue about and really feel I have a clear picture of people's lives there before the famine and after.

I must say by the time I had reached the end I could not believe what life had been in North Korea. I certainly did learn allot and I highly recommend it.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
